First Christian Church is blessed by both a rich musical heritage and a promising musical future. You are encouraged to participate in the numerous musical opportunities we offer!
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir leads the music for worship in the 10:30 service each Sunday and presents music for special services throughout the year. The choir provides a variety of music, from classical to gospel, spirituals to contemporary. Membership is open to anyone who enjoys singing and no audition is required. Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 7:00-8:30 pm in the sanctuary.
Handbells
The Handbell choir is open to young people and adults. This group provides music frequently in Sunday morning worship during the school year and participates in a variety of other events throughout the year. Please contact Becky Waters, for the current rehearsal schedule.
Youth Choir
Our Youth Choir is open to all youth in grades 6-12. Only a love of music and a commitment to rehearsals and performances are necessary to join this group. The choir frequently provides music for worship services. Musical skills such as sight-reading, musicianship, and vocal techniques are stressed. This group meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 during the school year.
Children's Choir
The Children's Choir is open to all children in kindergarten through fifth grade. We gather from 3:30 pm – 4:45 pm for choir, focusing on basics such as rhythm, articulation, pitch, and vocal tone, as well as time for storytelling, crafts, mission projects, and games – and occasionally, a field trip. The children sing regularly for worship and other special services.
