Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Psalm 100:1

Music

First Christian Church is blessed by both a rich musical heritage and a promising musical future. You are encouraged to participate in the numerous musical opportunities we offer!

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir leads the music for worship in the 10:30 service each Sunday and presents music for special services throughout the year. The choir provides a variety of music, from classical to gospel, spirituals to contemporary. Membership is open to anyone who enjoys singing and no audition is required.
Director: Kristi Hill
Organist: Marlene Brown
Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 7:00-8:30 pm in the sanctuary

Handbells

Young people and adults can participate in a handbell choir that meets at 4 on Sunday afternoons.

One of our favorite events is the annual “Basketbells Tour.” This weekend trip features our middle school and high school handbell and vocal choirs. Each year we travel to an SEC college to attend a sporting event and also perform for a nearby Disciples congregation.

Youth Choir

Our Youth Choir is open to all youth in grades 6-12. Only a love of music and a commitment to rehearsals and performances are necessary to join this group. The choir frequently provides music for worship services at First Christian as well as at other churches. Musical skills such as sight-reading, musicianship, and vocal techniques are stressed. This group meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 during the school year.

Children's Choir

The Children’s Choir is open to all children in kindergarten through fifth grade and meets Sundays at 5:00 throughout the school year. Basics such as rhythm, pitch, articulation, and vocal tone are taught, as well as varied styles of repertoire. The children sing regularly for worship and other special services.
