First Woman Disciples Ordained

This year we observe the 120th anniversary of the ordination of Clara Hale-Babcock, the first Disciples woman ordained. She served 37 years as a pastor and evangelist, baptizing 1502 converts. Remembered for her strong intellect, clear presentation of the scriptures and effective appeal on behalf of Christ, Clara Hale-Babcock is a great role model for Disciples clergywomen.

Another Honor Flight Honoree!

Ken Riggs was the latest FCC member to be recognized by Honor Flight, which takes WWII veterans to the nation’s capital to see the memorial dedicated to them and to other important sites in the D.C. area. The group was given a grand send-off here and was welcomed in D.C. as the heroes they are. We salute Ken for his service to our country.

Parents of infants through teens are encouraged to join in this study.

Landscape News

Thanks to Duffy Boles for preparing the new mulch area near the large tree at the basement entrance. It is a great improvement to that area. Also, check the Bell Tower Garden ( Nancy Woodall), McMains Garden (Ann & Larry Thompson) and the Court Yard ( Helen Duke) for improved presentation. Watch for a Saturday workday in May to help make other site improvements.
Your Landscaping Team

SPECIAL THANKS to Bob Senn for leading the Landscape Team by deed and example.

April Outreach Ministry -
Salvation Army Spice Donations

Spices are needed for the Salvation Army to add some zip and pizzazz to otherwise bland meals. The food budget does not include extras to make a meal taste really yummy. Commercial size spices are recommended for donation, but any size will be accepted. Warehouse stores carry the larger sizes at reasonable prizes. Some suggestions are: chili powder, garlic salt, minced onion, seasoned salt, Italian seasoning, and parsley flakes. Our goal is 60 containers of spices.
